James Neesham (10-1-31-5):
I went back to doing what I do well – just tried to hit the deck hard as possible. I had not bowled well in the first couple of games, so wanted to come out and put a performance on. They did put us under pressure at the start but it is pleasing to bowl them out. It is a pretty good wicket and if anything it has gotten quicker after the rain break. We just wanted to keep it in the right areas, we didn’t get a whole lot of rewards up top but you just have to stick with it and hope you get it done. We don’t have the result yet, we still have to go out there and chase those runs. It is about doing your job, myself and Colin (de Grandhomme) as the allrounders, we have got along with us four world class operators at the other end, just have to get through the overs. You never fully confident. We know they have a couple of strong bowlers, so it up to Gups (Guptill) and Colin (Munro) to go out and start strongly and we will see how we go from there.

New Zealand are unchanged while there are three changes in the Afghan side. Dawlat Zadran is being rested with Aftab Alam coming in. Noor Ali Zadran replaces his nephew Mujeeb Zadran and Ikram Ali Khil comes in place of injured Shahzad, who is already ruled out of the tournament.
Honestly I would have batted first. It looks like a good wicket. The surface won’t matter much, we have to play positive cricket at the end of the day. We have three changes – Dawlat is resting and Aftab comes in, Noor Ali plays his first game and I forgot the last change. We need to do nothing different. We have to get a good start and not give away wickets in the first 10 overs.
We are going to have a bowl. A fresh wicket and looks a good one. It is nice to have a couple of wins in front of us. But we have to adapt to the new ground and new surface. It was tough but it was nice to get across the line. They are all tracking very nicely.
