The NewsYet – Jeep Renegade pickup truck could make a lot of sense considering the popularity of the regular SUV and its 4×4 characteristics
Jeep has long been touted to introduce the Renegade in the Indian market especially considering the regular drop in sale for its ace SUV, the Compass. Launching the Renegade could make a lot of sense for the American brand as it is the smallest SUV being offered within the portfolio.
Since the Renegade is positioned below the Compass, it could drive in more volumes and with high localisation, it could become a hit product in the price range of around Rs. 12-15 lakh. The Renegade has already been spied several times on Indian roads over the years but it still looked a long way off from reaching showrooms.
Jeep is working on a sub-four-metre SUV and a three-row UV for the domestic customers as they are expected to arrive in the early parts of next decade. We won’t be surprised if the Renegade fits in ahead of their arrival and manufactured at the Ranjangaon facility where the Compass is shipped to right-hand drive markets across the globe.
The Renegade is a top-selling SUV for Jeep across many international markets and it could be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The Small Wide 4×4 platform based current-gen Renegade is available since 2014 and thus we can expect the next generation version to be offered in India and its good off-roading abilities may come in handy to distinguish itself from rivals.
We have a tasty rendering of the Renegade pickup truck here and it could act as a potential competitor to the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. The lifestyle pickup truck segment has not been properly explored by manufacturers and who would not want a modern hauler based on the Renegade?
Dubbed the Renegade Alaskan, the changes behind the C-pillar are obvious as the boot section has been chopped in favour of a flat belt. While the imaginative rendering may not ever come into fruition in real life, it does add a lot of character and utility appeal to the Renegade.
As Jeep recently revived the Gladiator as a pickup based on Wrangler, why not Renegade you may ask but we do not have a legit answer yet! The 4×4 capabilities of the regular Renegade will enhance the practicality of the pickup truck further as well if it comes into existence.
